SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record July 16, 2000 - No 14.

Last week we made to long trek to Mango to come away with more injuries than we started with, as well as a much-dented pride for the Firsts and Under 18's. For the Reserves it was a very shaky start and losing two experienced players in Jason Magoci and Shayne Driscoll early in the game, both with broken ankles, but to their credit they kept fighting all day to come away with a very good win. In the Firsts it was a day to forget, as it was the first time MCUE has beaten the Swans since entering the competition, they played with passion that the Firsts could not match, injuries hit again with youngster Chris Blanchard receiving a heavy knock and may miss a couple of weeks, he will be well looked after by Mark O'Connor (broken finger), Glen Vaccari (groin), Dean Jamieson (hand) and Andrew Hill (shoulder).

Sponsors for last week was Les Wilesmith & Ernie Wade and the club and players appreciate their support. Awards were as follows, Jeff 'Pumpkin' Mickan maybe dining out with a young lass after winning the Exies Dinner for Two. Kaine 'SS' Malone is starting a towel collecting with another Snuggle-In voucher. Damien 'Please give your shirt money' Scott won the Donaldson Mitre 10 award, Daniel 'DT' Tuohey was consistent again to take home the Ron's Auto One award, while youngster Dom Giorgi took out both the McDonalds voucher and the Players Mug, Matthew 'Elvis' Bunn will be seen filling up at Caltex with the petrol voucher in hand.

Awards for the Reserves start with the hay cutter Trent Bradley, who recovered well from Friday's training to be awarded the Griffith Exies Bottle Shop voucher. Dale Dridan returned from a long spell due to injury to take out the Autobarn voucher, while the ageless Greg 'Grumpy' Dreyer started to return to form to be awarded the McDonalds voucher. Jeff 'Yes your Honour' Inglis will be using the Griffith Laundry Service voucher to his advantage this week. Ben Ford stepped up to put in a great performance on the field to be awarded the Players Mug, which enabled him to be awarded 'best on bus' on the trip home.

Once again, our Netballers had a big win of 36 points in A Grade, with Mel Jamieson and Megan Rawle leading the way. B Grade won on a forfeit, speaking of forfeiting our Under 18's had to as well after not being able to rake up enough numbers for a trip, hopefully this won't happen again.

This week we take on Temora in what should be a very tough encounter. The club and the players would like to thank Jack Trimboli from Griffith Autoscreen for sponsoring today's game.

On the social side we have a few dates set down starting with the Trivia Night following the game next week against Wagga Tigers at the Exies Sports Club. Our next Reverse Draw will be held on the 26th of August in conjunction with the Best and Fairest Vote Count for all grades. Presentation Night has been set down for the 6th of October. Good luck to all grades this week. Go Swans!!
