SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record July 25, 1999 - No.14

THE less said about the latest Seniors effort (against Leeton-Whitton) the better. After a couple of top wins, we certainly decided to have a shocker. At least we now have the opportunity to redeem ourselves this week and return to the winners list. It will certainly require a much improved and committed effort by us all to achieve this. The opportunity to redeem ourselves is there, the desire to do so is now up to each player.

The awards were sponsored by Elders Pastoral and we thank them for that. The Exies Dinner was won by Phil "Rowdy" Rowston who picked up possessions at will, the Snuggle Inn towel was won by Myles "Snake Skin Shoes" Bunn, who never stopped trying, the Warren Lowry award was won by forward turned defender Shane "I'm hearing ya" Ruyg who did his best to stem the tide after half time, and the McNabb Caltex Fuel award was won by Matthew "off tap" Kenny.

The 2nds despite struggling for numbers were defeated but were certainly still in the game up until the final ten minutes. Thanks to those Under 18's who backed up, your efforts are certainly appreciated. The Billabong Bottle Shop award was won by midfielder Mick "The Flying Dutchman" Clayden who racked up possessions all day, the Warren Lowry award was won by the evergreen Owen Brown who made a welcome return, and the Griffith Laundry Service voucher was won by the much-improved defender Luke Irons with another consistent game in defence.

The Under 18's started well with a six goal first term, being challenged in the second term. The boys steady after half time and ran out winners in a good game of football. The C & P Express JDs Pizza award was won by defender Jake Maguire with a top game, the Trevor Harrison towel was won by wingman Matthew Edwards who picked up heaps of possessions, and the Lowes Socks were won by U16s player Daniel Best with another top effort up forward.

On the social scene do not forget about the $1000 reverse draw at the Exies Sports Club on Sunday August 15. Tickets are $20 per person and available now. Thanks to Leanne & Damien Scott and Colin & Lisa Cassidy for organising the Trivia Night last week. Certainly, a top night was had by all that attended.

Tonight, we head to the Crown Hotel for a few after the game and all players and supporters are most welcome.
