SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record April 21, 2000 - No 3.

Last week we travelled to Coolamon after a very long week on the track and according to some of the local experts in the game, we faced what was to be a right royal flogging by 'The Weed' (Wayne Weidemann) and his crop of youngsters, and to Jon (O'Dwyer) and the boys' credit no-one was prepared to let a repeat of the previous weeks' performance happen again. Even though the Firsts did not come away with a win, Jon would be able to use the positives from the game to help the players themselves. This week we take on the Goannas who will no doubt be on a high after a good win last week in all three grades.

Thank you to George Duncan Electric's for the sponsorship of last Sunday's game which the awards went as follows:- the Exies Dinner for Two, as well as the Players Mug will be well used by Phil 'She hasn't long to go' Rowston, Michael 'Blondes have more fun' Johns took out the Snuggle-In voucher, while the Donaldson's Mitre 10 award will help Dean 'Denzie' Jamieson buy a new stilson wrench, the Ron's Auto One award will keep Daniel Tuohey car running like a kitten, Jeff 'Pumpkin Head' Mickan will be shouting the Binya boys cheese burgers on the way home with the McDonalds voucher and Matthew 'Bronco Rider' Bunn will be able to reimburse Myles's petrol with the Caltex voucher.

If you didn't get to the Reserves game, you missed a hard fought and gutsy win in what would have been the worst conditions of the day. With a lot of young players coming through and a sprinkle of the older more experienced players, they combined well in the wet to overpower the opposition. Chris 'The Youthful One' Conlan will be seen parked in the browsers lane looking for that nice bottle of red with the Billabong Bottle Shop award, while Luke 'Mr. Burns' Irons will finally get his muffler fixed with the Autobarn voucher, the McDonalds voucher went to David 'Do you think I look like Danny Southern' Dunn who pipped Peter 'The Axe' Hunt who will able to get those grease monkey overalls and truckie singlets clean with the Griffith Laundry Service voucher. And last but not least Myles 'Crocodile Boots' Bunn locked horns with the player's mug.

In the Under 18 Grade, it was a very undermanned line-up with many of last week's stars missing, they went down by eight points which I'm sure Shane 'Super Goose' Ruyg will be out to turn around this week. Nathan 'Shane's Bosses Son' Creevy took out the J.D's Pizza award who narrowly edged out Daniel 'Son of Bat' Best who will be dining out with the McDonalds award, while Paul 'The Silent Assassin' McCormack received the Video Esy voucher.

Our Netballers also found the conditions hard to handle with both grades going down to a stronger Coolamon outfit. Karen Conlan tried hard all day, along with Lisa Benson who had plenty of work at goalkeeper.

This week's game is sponsored by Griffith Autoscreen and the Club would like to thank Jack Trimboli for his patronage. Don't forget to purchase your Reverse Draw tickets for Sunday, 7th May (after we play Tigers in Wagga) as tickets are almost sold out. If you have not purchased one yet, please contact Kelly Ruyg, Ian Wade or Damien Scott ASAP. On behalf of the Football Club, we wish everyone a Happy Easter and safe travelling.
