SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record May 30, 1999 - No. 8

The Seniors must learn one quarter of football (against Turvey Park) is not enough to win a game. Yet again we were slow out of the blocks and faced a half time deficit greater than Justin Sanson's Mastercard account after a weekend with Danny Files. A minor revival started late in the third term before we came home strongly in the last. The rain came at the wrong time for the boys and took the sting out of the game. Still, we cannot expect success on the back of one quarter of football.

The awards were donated by Brian Hammond, and we thank him for that. They are as follows: The Exies Dinner was won by the dashing defender Damien Scott, the Snuggles Inn towel was won by the much-improved Matthew 'Posh Spice' Kenny, the McDonalds award was won by the high-flying Paul "Gomer" Eyles, and the McNabb Fuel voucher was won by the youngster Shane "Chopper" Russell.

The 2nds again battled hard but could not get the four points. They never gave in so keep at its boys. The Players' Player Mug and Billabong award was won by the old man Colin 'Mr. Fitness' Cassidy, the McDonalds was won by the nuggety on-baller Corey 'Pit Bull' Frater, and the Griffith Laundry Service award was won by the cuddly defender Scott 'I am not an animal' Collis who performed well under extreme duress.

The Under 18's had a top win in a controversial game against a top five opponent. Keep up the good work boys. The awards were as follows: The C & P Express JDs Pizza award was won by the U16 player Leigh Owen with a top effort up forward, the McDonalds award was won by the ever-consistent on-baller Michael Duncan, and the Lowe's award was won by the hard running Paul McCormack.

Tonight, we are going back to the Crown Hotel after the game and all players and supporters are welcome.
